Globalstar has announced that its subsidiary, Globalstar Europe, is launching static IP address and virtual private network (VPN) capability for its satellite data customers throughout western Europe. The new services are possible due to enhancements at the Globalstar gateway ground station located in France.

The Globalstar Static IP address modems will communicate to specific IP addresses using the new VPN service and the introduction of the virtual private network service will provide Globalstar Europe customers with an enhanced level of security when making use of the Internet.
