Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

EnOcean (Boston, MA) provides technology for what they call self-powered, green, smart, wireless sensors. The basic idea is to use the energy associated with say a mechanical movement such as a switch position change to transmit wireless signals over a distance of up to 1000 feet. From the web site: “EnOcean’™s unique combination of miniaturized energy harvesting modules with ultra low power radio technology is the basis for innovative maintenance free wireless sensors. EnOcean technology adds unparalleled flexibility at lowest investment and operational cost.”
